experience Italian food & wine at SCOPRI

Scopri, which means to discover, or to find out, in Italian, comes directly from the experience gained in Italy by owners.

They regularly travel through Italy, eating and drinking their way through its 20 regions, ‘discovering’ along the way the diversity of Italian food and wine – something unable to be gained anywhere else, introducing a seasonally varying menu with its traditional format of antipasto, pasta, main and dessert, using incredible local products from artisan producers.

What is La Festa del Barolo? Festa del Barolo is a seven day event hosted by a collective of Australia’s most important importers of Italian wine. Over the course of five dinners we will highlight each of the most significant communes of this unique region. Starting on a Monday with La Morra and culminating with Serralunga on Friday, each night a restaurant will be cooking traditional fare of the region matched to a bracket of wines from the relevant commune. Each dinner will begin with a bracket of either Rosato, Barbera and Nebbiolo before we head into two brackets of three Barolo's. The first bracket of three will showcase current vintages, in particular the 2013 vintage which has been heralded as one of the great vintages in the last thirty years. The second bracket of three barolo's will feature older vintages from many iconic producers. The Festa will feature a who’s who of producers including Altare, Scavino, Mascarello, Fantino,, Rocche di Manzoni, Veglio, Vajra and too many more to mention.  Bookings are being taken per night direct with each restaurant.    Why we love La Festa del Barolo....   This promotion is supported by more than a dozen importers-  almost every major name in Barolo is represented-  so you might want to think about going Monday for the La Morra wines, or Tuesday for Barolo itself, or maybe Wednesday to sample wines from Castiglione Falletto; or perhaps going later in the week for Monforte on Thursday or ‘Serralunga Friday’?!  When too much Barolo is never enough, you could go every night!   LA FESTA DEL BAROLO  FIVE COMMUNES & FIVE DINNERS (AND A COUPLE OF SUNDAY LUNCHES THROWN IN!)   A celebration of the great wines of Piedmonte  MELBOURNE July 31 – August 6th, 2017 MONDAY La Morra in Focus $210 per person.  Scopri MELBOURNE July 31st, 2017   Monday night is La Morra night. This is the largest commune in the area and thanks to the dominance of the Tortonian soils it produces wines that are the most perfumed and feminine of all the Barolo communes. Its most esteemed vineyards include Rocche dell’Annunziata, Brunate, La Serra and Arborina and it plays host to some of Barolo’s greatest producers. Monday is a celebration of these wines and an unmissable opportunity to experience the wines with complimentary food surrounded by a room full of like-minded Nebb-nuts!    In attendance will be Nicola Oberto from Tridiberri in La Morra who will add his insights on the commune.
